Lynette van Tonder Conceptual Visual Artist



Residing in Johannesburg South Africa, Lynette Van Tonder graduated with a diploma
in graphic design at Pretoria Technikon (TUT) with sculpture as her minor subject.
A year later she received a MMI certificate from Damelin Business College.
Further studies included the Summer Academy of Art in Salzburg, Austria, (lithography),
a short stint at Bill Ainslie Studio (etching); Thea Soggot (drawing / painting),
figure study with Carl Jeppe and Sharon Sampson Studio (printmaking).

Lynette pursued a successful career in advertising and graphic design, but turned to a full time career
in visual art in 2012. Two solo and various curated group exhibitions ensued at Upstairs at Bamboo
Standard Bank Arts Festival, Fried Contemporary, The Gallery Riebeek Kasteel,
Tina Skukan, Sharon Sampson Studios, Halifax Art and Stuart Trent Gallery.

Lynette van Tonder obtained a BTECH Fine Art degree at University of Johannesburg in 2016 and passed CUM LAUDA.

Van Tonder manages a visual art gallery in Johannesburg on a part time basis.
